Daily Detail

Daily Pressure Ranges

Compare each day’s forecast maximum, minimum, average, and change. The average is calculated from the available hourly values; Change compares it with the previous day’s average. The first row has no previous day for comparison. These are calendar-day summaries, not just the points sampled in the 72-hour chart.

How to Read a Pressure Forecast

Use Today for the remaining hourly values and 72 Hours for points sampled every six hours. The 7-day and 16-day views show daily averages. Their trend summarizes the beginning and end, so also look for changes in between. All values are forecasts, not future observations or guaranteed weather outcomes.

Use The Range

Why Daily Minimums and Maximums Matter

The shaded range spans each day’s lowest and highest available hourly forecast values. It is not a confidence interval or an ensemble uncertainty band. Two days can have the same average but different ranges; check the hourly view when the timing of a change matters.

Common Questions About Barometric Pressure Forecasts

How accurate is a 16-day barometric pressure forecast?

Uncertainty generally increases with forecast lead time because errors in starting conditions and model approximations grow. Treat the later days as an outlook, not an exact appointment for a pressure change. Refresh the forecast as the date approaches; this chart does not calculate a probability or confidence score. ECMWF explains forecast uncertainty.

Why does the chart use sea-level pressure?

Sea-level pressure adjusts for elevation, making forecast values easier to compare between locations and with standard weather maps. A device’s local sensor reading can differ because it measures pressure at its actual altitude. For the distinction between adjusted values and the standard reference, read about normal, high, and low pressure.

Does falling pressure guarantee rain or a storm?

No. A falling pressure trend can accompany an approaching weather system, but pressure is only one part of a forecast. Use the curve alongside the wider weather forecast and local conditions.
